Last night, the Board of Supervisors took a straw vote to underfund our schools by $38 million (almost twice the amount from the last two years). This vote puts our entire school system at risk. But the fight isn't over.
week, I submitted over 2,800 signatures to the Board of Supervisors calling on
them to "invest in a budget that meets the needs of our community, students, and
employees in a growing school system." These signatures came from taxpayers,
voters, parents, LCPS staff, and community members from all over Loudoun County.
It's not too late to get the attention of the Board of Supervisors.
The final vote on the budget will happen on April
2nd. Between now and then, we need to let the Board of Supervisors know that
their straw vote is the wrong choice for our community. We've made it easy for
you to make your voice heard. Just click here to write and send your message. If
you're having trouble crafting a message, take a look at this great letter to the editor from taxpayer and
teacher Carl Mackey published in the Loudoun Times Mirror this week.
overwhelming engagement from the community throughout this budget process has
been amazing. We can't give up in these final 11 days. Let the BOS know
you are dissatisfied and that you will hold them
accountable! (Please remember to use your personal e-mail account.)
